West Runton is a little village located close to our Holiday Park, rich in history and intrigue. Home to the site of the "West Runton Elephant" discovery (the most complete specimen of the species of Mammoth ever found in the world!) as well as various Roman artifacts and other extinct animal fossils, you never know what you might discover on your travels! Due to its soft cliffs, West Runton is a sanctuary for rare wildlife species including; the Rove Beetle and Cliff Comber Beetle, and is one of the only places in the UK known to be inhabited by these species.

We highly recommend you try the food at The Village Inn. Their menu ranges from some of the greatest traditional pub food around to seasonal specials. You can dine in the bar, garden or in their a separate restaurant. At the VILLAGE INN, you can find a blue plaque to commemorate the West Runton Pavilion venue which hosted performances from some of the biggest names in rock, punk and new wave, including; the Sex Pistols, UB40, The Clash, and many more - for more details click here. The Village Inn stand by the motto "A real pub serving real food and real beer to real people." With a real fireplace which comes alive in the winter, you won't find a pub / bar more traditional in Norfolk, or the UK. There's also a large garden area which welcomes families and well behaved dogs.

Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary

HILLSIDE SHIRE HORSE SANCTUARY attracts visitors from all around the country. It is home to a large and unique collection of different breeds of draught horses and ponies, donkeys and also sheep, pigs, Rabbits, Ducks, Hens, Goats and many more rescued animals. Take a nostalgic trip into the past to see the farming ways of yesteryear with their selection of pre-war horse-drawn machinery and carts. An indoor arena is available, so you will not miss anything due to the weather! For the little ones, there is an indoor play and activity area. Afterwards relax in the "animal-friendly" café or browse the gift shop.
